The UCLA Med-Peds program is listed in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and has a separate National Residency Match Program (NRMP) number for the Match process. ERAS is a paperless application service that allows applicants to conveniently submit all application materials via internet. For more information about ERAS and directions on how to download an application, please visit the AAMC website. We are a selective and rigorous program that takes into consideration academic and clinical performance as well as other significant attributes that you may potentially bring into the UCLA Med-Peds family. At this time, we anticipate accepting 4 interns each academic year.

Residency Application Requirements

ERAS application deadline: November 1
Please submit all application materials listed below for residency via ERAS

1) ERAS Common Application Form
2) 3 Letters of Recommendation:

  • 1   Letter of Recommendation from your Pediatric Chair (or designee)
  • 1   Letter of Recommendation from your Internal Medicine Chair (or designee)
  • 1   Letter of Recommendation from either field (Internal Medicine or Pediatrics) from someone who has had direct clinical contact with you.

* The Chair's letter from each department should provide an overview of your clinical performance from your clerkship experience (both inpatient and outpatient) and any elective experiences in the department. If the clerkship director or other senior faculty member (i.e. designee) is able to provide this overview, then this letter will be acceptable to fulfill our application requirement. This information is extremely important to our Intern Selection Committee therefore no exceptions will be allowed.

3) Dean's Letter (Medical Student Performance Evaluation - MSPE)
4) Personal Statement
5) Photo (2x2 passport size photo with white background)
6) Curriculum Vitae

* All incoming interns must have passed both parts of USMLE Step II Clinical Knowledge (CK) and Clinical Skills (CS) prior to the start of internship. Failure to do so may result in release of the contractual obligation of the NRMP.

* Graduates of International Medical Schools must possess valid ECFMG certificates, be eligible for J-1 visa sponsorship and have the State of California eligibility letter.
